Party Time 今天我们去聚会 Party Types 聚会类型 Chinese people might find the set up of Western style parties a little strange at first. In most cases they are very informal affairs. People arrive and leave at different times, there are no set activities and people will mingle freely. It's very casual. Some parties are held for a particular reason or have a certain theme. These types of get-togethers will be more structured. It is common practice to celebrate the acquisition of a new home by inviting friends to have a party in it. This type of party is usually very informal, meaning that you don't have to be strictly punctual about when you arrive. It is customary to bring a gift. Sometimes games, such as pictionary or charades, will be played. In Britain costume parties are known as fancy dress parties. Be careful! To Americans, fancy dress party refers to a formal black tie event.
